NZ's TV3 Selects Advent Flyaway for Rugby World Cup
TV3 New Zealand has upgrading its flyaway equipment for the Rugby World cup and is purchasing a brand new ultra-lightweight Mantis flyaway kit from Advent Communications. TV3 collected the new Mantis dish from the Advent factory in Chesham and flew it directly to France where the majority of the World Cup matches were scheduled.
TV3 bought a complete flyaway package with a high powered amplifier and Advent’s
video exciter, upconverter and automatic satfinder. The 1.0m Mantis is one
of the smallest and most portable flyaways on the market, it stows in a single
suitcase-style container weighing only 20kg, and meets stringent airline weight
restrictions. TV3 is renowned for its news and current affairs programming
in New Zealand and has the free-to-air rights for the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
The sale of the Mantis Flyaway was negotiated by Phil Cooke at The Bridge Networks, specialists in equipment for the broadcast and telecoms sectors. The Bridge Networks is Advent’s distributor for New Zealand.
Says Phil Cooke: “The Bridge Networks has already delivered two Mantis systems to TV3 which was a good experience. This has earned confidence in Advent’s products and technical support. The new Mantis flyaway was delivered tested ready to go into action quickly – straight from the Advent factory to the World Cup in France.”
Advent Communications is a leading manufacturer of satellite uplinks and flyaways for broadcast and defence applications and has just completely refurbished and refitted its factory to create space for its latest production processes and new administrative offices at Chesham.
